Thoughts on Painting
A process with my self, bringing the inner, most intimate me onto paper; the one who knows, who trusts, who alone can be completely my self.
Listening with a sharp ear, with no judgment or restriction, with no ifs and buts, listening and looking with honesty to that inner self.
That inner, sometimes hardly heard voice - this I want to listen to.
That voice which in everyday life often doesn't have much of a say. It comes out when we are surrounded by nature, we are meditating - when we get a break from the mind chatter which so often rules the scene.
There is a purity to it, a dedication to that inner sense, you can call it intuition, that knowing in you. As soon as it gets disturbed through mind chatter it gets silent, the process on the paper stagnates and it is hard to move on from there.
I look at a flower and learn about creation. She takes a great risk in the moment that she opens herself up, in her full bloom, coming out in sometimes the most difficult surroundings. She shines in her beauty, not asking about yesterday or tomorrow. Nature teaches us to be present with all there is, to look at oneself with completely honesty.
A continuing evolving happens, if you are surrendering yourself to that moment of inner expression.
Creation is a most sacred and courageous act. If we truly create, painting becomes a honest, powerful, uncompromising expression of the One and the self. It has the potential of bringing out that which lies dormant within, waiting to be expressed - it is from that process that creation brings healing.
